I just found out that a really good and old friend of mine well hes like a little brother.. has been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer... His name is Josh Hendrix... hes 29 and a father of three and one on the way.... He has batteled this cancer once before and had on breast removed already.. his insurance is refusing to pay for the meds that he needs to keep him alive for longer then the next year.. so what we are doing is holding a few benefits for him to help raise money so he can recieve the proper meds to prolong his life for another 20 to 30 years.... The first benefit is on Nov 21st... What Im asking for is any donations for the cause... gift certificates... gift baskets... anything to be raffeled off to raise money for hismedical expenses.. Josh and his wife or mother have been driving to Tulsa Oklahoma every week for his treatment and the money is getting very scarce... Anything woul dhelp... so please reach deep if you can or if you know of any organizations, bars, anyplace that would donate stuff for the cause please pm.... anything would be appreciated!!!!...If you are wanting to attend the benefit I will have more info on that tomarrow and will update the thread then..... Thank you in advance for anyone that can help! Hugsss!

Yo,

Do you know what his schedule is for coming to Tulsa? The dates, times, and facility where the treatment is given.
Also if he is having conflict with his insurance company, he might try going to his State Insurance Commissioner's office for assistance.

Car Show anyone?

That's kind of what I was thinking about, a car show to benefit Josh, IE to help pay for his meds...

Sounds like a good idea to me! Maybe put a price on gettin in like $5? Maybe a fee for the car show participants to enter? and then have sponsorships from local companies? if done right it could really work!

Btw...... THIS IS MY 100TH POST!!! :D

well since its kinda short notice, atleast for me, maybe we could put somethin together in a few different places and have all the money forwarded to Yo? i was thinkin maybe for us missouri folks we could go down in the back lot by the river in downtown st charles and maybe you OK guys could do something similiar?

Yo, where is his hometown? maybe the community would be willing to get behind this. Or how about tulsa where he is receiving treatment?

I will definately help out. A car show would be great. My wife passed away almost 2 years ago from Lung Cancer so anything to do with this dreaded disease I will help with. Probably his home town or where his treatment is are the best ideas.IMHO

Ed, we could do a show at the treatment center if they will let us. I am sure we could figure out a time and such. the only saturday I might have a chance in November is the 21st. or maybe the 7th but that is short notice. Maybe Yo can get us some contact info for the treatment facility

Maybe in both his hometown and the town he's recieving treatment? if we can get two different shows together in different regions we might double the support?

hawkeye4077
10-28-2009, 09:13 PM
I would think the treatment center is the better of the 2. The 7th we have the Tulsa show. I would think we need to concentrate on one event. Trying to do too much at one time could be counter-productive.

Personally speaking in this situation I don't think it matters what kind of car, truck etc. It's all about helping out someone who needs it. The more people we can get the more we can help him and his family.

We could even do a benifit show, IE the awards are just certificates printed out (maybe from kinkos) and people donate a small fee to see the cars. There are lots of things that can be done cheap. I can also contact the REACT group I'm a member of to help us. One of the members is pretty tight with Cox communications and might be able to get us a spot at one of their buildings or even a donation. Also have some that work security at OCCC and we might be able to use their parking lot as well. Just give me some times/dates and I'll start making some requests.

If in Oklahoma ( Tulsa, Oklahoma City or nearby ) I will come and help out gladly. My grandmother died few years back with Ovarian Cancer and my Uncle died 6 months ago and he had a Brain Tumor that he swore was cancer. He had it removed. Died afterwards. He had opted for no autopsy before dieing.

If no show, I will see what I can scrounge up!

Its shocking the insurance company would deny life saving treatments. Who is his provider? One other idea that might possibly help is to get his story out on the news, in the papers, make sure everyone hears his story.
