View Full Version : A Little GPMM History
hawkeye4077 10-29-2009, 10:32 PM A little over a year ago Landon (OKCharger), Tonja (summer72) and I got together for a little M&G.There was also a guy from Ohio who was in town for business. We met at Pop's in Arcadia, Ok and had lunch. We then cruised to Chandler and the Rt. 66. museum and took a few pics. On the way to Chandler we saw a Highway Patrol car on the side (it was a Charger) and we stopped and asked if we could take some pics with him. He declined. Anyway we had a really good time. Jump forward a year.
2nd Annual GPMM labor day M&G
This year we met at a Cracker Barrel on OKC and caravaned to Chandler and the Rt. 66 Museum which thanks to Landon they opened for us to view. I think the total count of cars was 23 including some from the Crossfire Club. We toured the museum then drove to Pop's for lunch and onto the lake for an impromptu car show. Can't wait till next years event:cool:
Attending this years event were: Landon, hawk, Tonja, Matt, Ross, Darin, Jack, Jake, Daak, Ken (purplehaze),Joe, Kellen, Ken, 6speed, smoked, rhylins mommy, chefrwmiller, John Rogers and their families plus seveeral from The Crossfire club:cool:

man if we have more people we will need to rent a place out................lol...........
HonkEwitDaJeep 10-31-2009, 12:32 AM I think next year might be time for a GPMM sponsored car show....
hawkeye4077 10-31-2009, 12:43 AM I think next year might be time for a GPMM sponsored car show.... Well if we wanted to do a show I can talk to the dealership as a possible site for it and some type of sponsorship. I am sure i could also arrange some advertising with my friends at the radio station with a possible live remote broadcast.
HonkEwitDaJeep 10-31-2009, 12:46 AM It is definately something I am gonna look into next year
KENSBADAZRT 10-31-2009, 12:55 AM Hey, weren't we considering doing a show for Yo's friend sometime soon?...or you guys are thinkin of a GPMM show more central to all four states
HonkEwitDaJeep 10-31-2009, 01:04 AM we were talking about labor day 2010
KENSBADAZRT 10-31-2009, 01:37 AM My bad.........sorry
HonkEwitDaJeep 10-31-2009, 01:38 AM No problem Ken, we are still talking about the show for Yo's friend also.
summer72 02-24-2010, 12:56 AM Wow! I'm just now reading this. It brought a tear to my eye. Thanks Ed!
BMRbrnSNRbrd 05-09-2010, 06:08 PM You need trucks this year...I wonder where you could get a few :D
If you go to Chandler again, I know the guy that wrote the EZ Guide to Route 66. He's a Route 66 historian and artist and he lives in Chandler. I can hit him up to see if he wants to join us to speak or just hang out. We could go to his gallery as well.
HonkEwitDaJeep 05-09-2010, 07:45 PM Sounds great I have been brainstorming about this years meet n greet, that might be one of the activities.... There was 1 truck there last year.... Mine lol
bill440cars 05-31-2010, 08:13 PM Just got through going through this thread and have to say that it IS really awesome the way this bunch (all of the GPMM members) has evolved into a fairly large group of Mopar Fanatics. A group, I might add, I am very proud to be a part of (even before I got MY Modern Mopar. And I certainly hope that nothing pops up,to keep ME from adding MY charger to the lineup.
That has to be quite a sight, seeing all of the Mopars in a Caravan and/or parked in the parking lot of a restaurant or a motel. I can just feel the atmosphere of that First Meeting, Really COOL stuff.;)
STGLKAB 05-31-2010, 08:21 PM Pretty cool. Is this event always in OK? Are there other gatherings around Kansas at all?
HonkEwitDaJeep 05-31-2010, 08:26 PM Each chapter is encouraged to plan their own event, mainly because we are spread so far apart, but OKC will always have a Labor Day Cruise
this year we may need to think a little bigger..............it was hell trying to eat at pops.................
HonkEwitDaJeep 06-01-2010, 02:25 AM I am thinking about a potluck at the lake and then a cruise, we will be announcing plans within a month
that actually sounds like a good idea...............specially if we have the same turnout we had last year..................

Ya know, I was reading back through some of this stuff and thought it was pretty good that the '10 Labor Day Cruise wasn't anything like originally thought of. I'm quite sure that the 1st one was "Historic", the 2nd one was
"Totally Awesome" and this one coming up, will be Really "Off The Wall"! I can hardly wait Too! ;)
Very cool. I'm looking forward to my first Midwest meet. Definitely grown a lot since the first one.

Oops, got em mixed up, didn't I. Anyway, last year's was incredible, to see all those Mopars heading down highway 71. So Looking forward to this one coming up. ;)
summer72 06-05-2011, 04:30 PM It would be cool to have a members list from year one, two, three.... etc. Just to see how much it has grown.

bill440cars 06-06-2011, 04:25 AM Did I not make it last year?
If you did, Tonja, I sure didn't get to finally meet you. Maybe this time? :D
I can't be sure, but I'm not even sure there was ANY kind of a white Charger last year (except for Tee's work vehicle and IT had the blue accents :D )! So, you would have been a solo act. ;)
