Drove to work this morning and my tranny jumped out of gear and I had to let it roll until the computer would let it go back into gear. I took it out at lunch time and made some quick runs up to 100 and it ran thru the gears fine but when I was just cruising around it jumped out. I'm going to check the fluid in the morning after my kids soccer game to see if that might be the cause. I was warned that I was pushing the limits of a stock transmission with my engine setup so I'm going to start making plans to get that high dollar mod done. I was waiting until next year to upgrade the driveline but I guess my car wants it a little sooner than expected. Might do the rearend as well. It could use a limited slip differential and some gears. I was thinking about putting in a 3.23 gear to get down the track a little quicker than the stock 3.07 gear set.

yeah I bet that would wear on the stock tranny pretty quick, I would do the lsd also since you are gonna have to tear it apart

LSD w/3.23 should work well with your setup after the trans is beefed up though

Just checked HHP and they have a built tranny for 4850 and another 600 for the gears. I'm going to check around some more and see what I find. It would be nice if we had a decent shop around my location that could do some work for me. I don't really feel like shipping it back down to Houston. I had to wait three months to get the engine done. I don't like to wait when I'm spending big bucks.

Decided on the Paramount NAG1 to replace my stock tranny. Got a good deal and Builder Bill has a good reputation for taking pride in his work. Also will be installing an upgraded flexplate that won't crack as easy as the stock one. It will be delivered on Tuesday so I'm going to take some time off of work and install it at the craftshop.

Yea, I hate seeing it just sit in the garage but it will back up soon. During my search for a better tranny, I made up a list of some other upgrades that I hope to do before next spring.

Glad you found a good place for the trans. Of course it never fails when you're looking for something you find 10 other things you want to do

Well, I got the Paramount transmission and flex plate in on Tuesday afternoon and went down to the craftshop to start the swap. I've finally got the stock one out and installed the new flexplate. Took the pan off the old tranny and the fluid was badly burnt and there were some fine metal shavings in the bottom of the pan. So I torched it pretty good.

The swap process has been a learning experience. It seems like they really tried to make bolts hard to reach and the fit is pretty tight but I'm working thru it.
