View Full Version : Radar Detectors
Prospector 10-31-2009, 10:56 AM Let me first say that I do not recommend driving over the speed limit
I am very aware of the posted limits within city limits and in residential areas... but on the Interstate -- that is a different story.
My LX likes to cruise at about 85 and I have run a Whistler XRT 560 for the past couple of years... I know for a fact that it has saved me more than a few times.
Some people claim that these devices are a waste of money; that as long as a person stays at 9 over the posted or below, you are ok.
What do you think... Opinions anyone?

Craftsman 10-31-2009, 11:46 AM I'm a firm believer in em!
Pokes277 10-31-2009, 12:40 PM I never leave home without my detector
Back N Black 10-31-2009, 01:43 PM I have never owned one.. If I am on a trip somewhere I usually wait till someone with one passes me and then I drop about 1/4 mile behind and match his speed. My dad calls it the Po Mans detector
Im a beliver..................only got 1 ticket when i was 16 when I had one............just cause I forgot to turn it on..............Now as far as tickets without one................its been 8 years..........and I still see 100 mph weekly in the caliber.............without one...........i just know im gonna get busted one day..........need to get another one...........
hawkeye4077 10-31-2009, 03:52 PM I have used one for many many years and it has saved me a ticket on anumber of occasions. My current one I've had for 2 1/2 years and its awesome. I have the Escort Passport 8500X50
HonkEwitDaJeep 10-31-2009, 08:55 PM Never have used one, I like to cruise usually unless I can see a long ways out in front of me
FOST3RS CHARG3R 10-31-2009, 09:26 PM i use one and refuse to drive without one.. though i can say has saved me numerous tickets, even this morning, i still get them. the main thing to realize is it is a RADAR detector NOT a COP detector. also, by the time it goes off, theyve already got you clocked, its mainly just whether or not you can slow down before they notice your were speeding
nim81 11-01-2009, 05:05 PM they are great! saved me many times.
psherlin 11-12-2009, 11:30 PM I have a lead foot. My 2006 Dodge Ram 2500, 4x4, turbo diesel eats 5.0 Mustangs, and my 2006 R/T runs really nice so I use a Valentine. I have had the same one for ten years, up graded it twice, total cost to upgrade, $186.00. Tells me where they are, what they are, how many there are, and which is the current threat. Tracks 8 at one time.
FOST3RS CHARG3R 11-13-2009, 03:38 AM Care to share exactly which model that is?
