I am looking at a diablo predator. I have been driving around like a manual, which prevents the MDS from engaging, and wow, Bob sounds better, that horrible low speed grumble from the MDS under light load goes away, and throttle response is instantaneous. I have noticed a drop in mileage of maybe 1 mpg, nothing worth worrying about. I can see no damage possible from disabling the MDS, although, I would like to keep it at speeds in excess of 55 mph. I like the idea of firming up the shift point a little.
Any suggestions, and what happens when taking Bob into the dealer for service, if the original saved load is restored, can they know the programming has been tampered with.
Any other suggestions.

Cheers

Richard

I think the diablo is one of the best mods to do for under $300. Youneed to make sure you return the stock tune if you are going to have service done but otherwise it is fine to leave it in.

No there is no way they can tell the tune was changed. just restore the stock tune before you take it in for service.Once you disable the MDS it's disabled till you change it with the predator.

I could be wrong so if I am I hope someone corrects me:

When you take your car in most mechanics are on flag hours so they get in and out and don't waste time. If you return your car to your factory tune they won't have a clue UNLESS you're tune moves any setting outside the normal parameters. That will show if they check the computer but they won't know why. They may guess programmer if you have a modded vehicle tho. On the other hand, the normal canned tunes keep your vehicle inside those parameters so no worries.

Hope this helps...

Terrence, it was my favorite F word, "FREE", my son bought it for me for Christmas.
I think he paid right under 300 for it from Speedlogix, it arrived very well packaged, and extremely quickly.
Tomorrow, I will play..........

I can echo what E.L.D 44 said. As the former GM of a busy car dealership, I can tell you that we don't go searching for computer reflashes. We fix the problem the car came in for and roll it out the door so we can go to the next car. The techs are not going to waste time on something they're not getting paid for. However, there have been cases where a car came in with engine or transmission damage and it's obvious that NOS was hastily removed. In that case, we dig deeper. But if you bring your car in for an inop power window, we don't go fishing in the computer.

The 2 best rules of thumb are to put the computer back to stock when you take the car in for service, and have a good relationship with the service department. The latter rule will go a long way.
