View Full Version : Air plenum and intake cleaning
Craftsman 11-06-2009, 12:53 AM I have been out of the automotive tech business for about 5 years now but BG used to have a system for cleaning your air plenum and intake. It was an apparatus that attached through a vacuum line on the plenum. You then ran the car on the cleaner and it really did an awesome job. I don't know if this is still available but for those of you who have not gotten a catch can you might think about doing this after you get one as it will eliminate the gunk built up in your intake. Ed may know if it is still around or not. I know the BG product line is still around. Really good stuff. IMHO
hawkeye4077 11-06-2009, 01:03 AM Yeah it's still around Joe. They also have an injector cleaner that's really good IMHO.

Oh yeah I used Seafoam many times. Stuff works really well:) I have a good supply of BG44K :D
BG is everywhere here..............but not in stores.............just gotta go to most any shop and they have it and will sell it............Think I may try the seafoam out one day.............its more available in all the part stores here.............
hawkeye4077 11-06-2009, 01:34 AM I was surprized to see you mention Seafoam. I know lots of techs that don't know about let alone what it can do.
I have never used it..............never let my intake get that bad........:D or never had a car long enough for it to get that bad.........lol. But I do know it works well........
Craftsman 11-06-2009, 01:52 AM There are BG products for sale on e-bay at a great deal less then they are charging at suppliers around here. But you'd need to buy it in like lots of 5 or 10
Craftsman 11-06-2009, 01:54 AM Hey I guess Bug B Gone is a seafoam product. They gave us samples of that at the Last Run. I dont see any intake cleaner though. Do they offer that?

And you need the equipment to use it also.
Craftsman 11-06-2009, 02:01 AM Yeah but they also have the MOA for your engine. They were trying to sell it to me at the place I get my oil changed but they wanted like 15 bucks a can. One guy on ebay had it and if you bought 10 cans it came out to like 6 dollars a can.
hawkeye4077 11-06-2009, 02:11 AM The MOA you pour in. The injector cleaned and throttle body/intake cleaner you need special tools to use.
seafoam you just pour in.........heh............no special tools required............unless you make some to look kewl while you do it.....like a funnel with a valve......lol

Black Magic 11-06-2009, 03:15 AM I've always been a big fan of Berrymans and they make an intake cleaner like described. It hooks to a vacuum line and is drawn from the can. Works great.

looks like the berrymans stuff is kinda like the BG stuff............Injector Cleaner uses the same type equipement that BG uses.........
