Will I definitely have to get a Heat Shield to install these?

I was hoping to get these done on Wednesday.

If I have to, Can I install them now, then add the Heat Shield later.

I heard that the V6 doesnt get as hot and I wouldnt need the shield.

If you dont have one on the driver side and you plan on keeping the suitcase muffler then yes. It sits right up in there next to the tank and it would be better to be safe then sorry in this instance!!

I read a thread on the Z from a guy who used some type of universal heatshield that he stuck to the tank. That is a point I forgot to tell you too. The shield is held on with plastic push pins that attach to little round pieces on the tank. Mine only had the round pieces on the passenger side so I had the guy cut the shield almost in half and shove it under the existing shield at the top over the driveshaft then I had him use some epoxy that I had brought with me to hold the whole thing together. I still need to use some strong double sided tape, it would need to be kind of thick, to stick it to the tank at the bottom.

Thanks for the info.

Did Greenking have more Heat Shields or just the one?

Craftsman

He just had the one. It was off the 300C he is parting out. If you want a factory one I would suggest the salvage yard. The!@#@!$!#$! dealer is gonna want like 300 for one.

Well, I got it put on already!

There is some rattle on the Passenger side. In the box behind the Tip. What is that part called, the Resonator? Would it benefit me to just cut those huge boxs off? Or can you even do that?

The rattle may be something in the box part as It sounds like something is rolling around. How would I get it out if thats what it is?

Or it could be something needs to be tighter.

I will take it back to the shop tomorrow so they can look at it.

Well it sounds good though. But I would like a little more rumble to it.

Yepp chop off the resos and throw em in the trash and don't look back. It will give you the rumble your lookin for

Craftsman
11-24-2009, 12:32 AM
Yeah if you cut the resos off it will be louder. The guy who put mine on says he installed them before where they didnt use the suitcase and just had the resos on at the end. He also said it gave it a distinctive V6 sound though. Mine is the SRT exhaust and I like the way it sounds but of course I live in an apartment complex and leave for work around 5:15 every morning so I have to think of my peacefully sleeping neighbors. LOL

Do I need to adjust my Predator or anything since I have added these?

Also what aftermarket mufflers should I get added to the setup? For best sound?

I don't think your pred should need any adjustment, but just to be sure you might want to call DS and talk to a tech about it. BTW...we are all on pins and needles to see that vid!
