Electric cut outs make your car loud, they are installed behind your headers. You can open them up and divert the exhaust out before it hits your muffler system. Sounds pretty cool really.
HonkEwitDaJeep 11-07-2011, 05:52 PM Yeah cutouts are a great mod, no performance gains but awesome to drive around with them open.
Preston the firewall looks great, glad you like it
DaytonaDan 11-07-2011, 06:13 PM Very cool man thanks for the knowledge

Thanks man, The wheels are stock SRT wheels but I sprayed them with Plasti-dip about a year a ago and it looks so good I never went back to the chrome. (BTW plasti-dip is a temp. spray paint that covers like a vinyl sticker and can be peeled off to go back to stock)

You got it, I love the way it sounds I passed the golf course down the street from my house and made 3 golfers break their necks trying to see what the hell was coming down the street. LOL :D

Thanks Landon, I'm very happy with the way it turned out. This could be one of my most favorite mods so far it really makes the engine bay pop. Now my engine covers should be here this week along with getting my intake manifold & throttle body powdercoated yellow. Thanks again
Thanks for all the compliments guys
Dude, that firewall looks AMAZING! can't wait to see it in person!

LKLive13 11-08-2011, 03:14 AM Fire wall looks pretty sweet! If you dont mind me asking... how much do you have in the electric cutouts?
DaBeast 11-08-2011, 05:45 AM For Cut outs to be remotely legal have to be after the cats. (Even then aren't street legal as best I have heard) Before cats can or will code some vehicles with o2 sensors and all that electric stuff. Depending on the location and type used can yield 4 to 11 hp gain check the manufacture. The proof is on a dyno and varies by vehicle etc.

HonkEwitDaJeep 11-08-2011, 12:20 PM Yeah they install behind the cats but in front of the mufflers. They run about $375-400 for a good set. I recommend DMH Low Profile cutouts. These cars sit low enough already so most conventional setups won't leave enough clearance.

Well I bought them used for $175 on lxforums.com, then had to buy the flanges and wiring harness for $75 (hence why I got them so cheap) and I sent them back to DMH under warranty for replacement (which is apparently lifetime now) because one was leaking and the other wouldn't open at all then it cost me $100 to get them welded on so final cost was $325. A brand new set will run you about $400 plus shipping.
BTW I ran the wiring harness myself so that labor isn't included.

Very true there is minimal clearance under our cars so the low profiles are a must and I would recomend DMH also they stand by there product and rarely ask questions when it comes to replacment of broken or faulty cutouts. Very good customer service.
bill440cars 11-08-2011, 11:40 PM Yeah, those polished firewalls really set these cars off and Yours is looking Great BTW. ;)
Been kinda considering the electric cutouts, but I'm not sure yet. If I DO go for some, it'll be sometime next year.
STGLKAB 11-13-2011, 01:09 PM Congrats on the new mods. Love the look of the firewall cover :)
