We are currently rebuilding the GPMM logo in auto cad and writing a program to create one with it. Also I'm in the process of making something for Peon!! Hope to have it done by Christmas. I have some more pictures of it but this one is one of the better ones. Kinda hard to take a picture of shiny aluminum. The finished project will first be powder coated, then etched and finally clearcoated. This is just a sample to see how things went. We're going to make it a little thicker because the plate flexed a little and it caused the mill to leave a couple of lines. Overall very happy with the outcome though.

Thanks man
That is great, looked like alot of work!
The most work is creating it in Auto cad. After that we just put it in Edge Cam (a Computer Aided Machining software) once it is in there the tool paths are assigned and the z depths have to be manually typed in. The creation of the program took several days. It only took about 50 minutes to run the program once the machine was set up and the program was created.
That looks better then great thats sick lookin... awesome work hun!

Craftsman 12-12-2009, 07:01 PM OK this is what it looks like powder coated then etched. We've ordered some special etching tools because what we are using isn't really for etching. Still it came out really good the powder coat matches my paint almost perfectly. The picture doesn't really do it justice. Anyway here it is.

Craftsman 12-12-2009, 10:23 PM Thanks everyone. My friends and I have put alot of time in trying to figure out how to pull this off the best way. It is really cool watching it etching in the mill. I did this one at a different location then the last one. It's done on a vertical mill. It was alot cooler being able to see what it was doing while it ran. With the horizontal you can't really see anything till it finishes.
