Has anyone ever tried this on thier own? Duplicolor's website makes it seem kinda easy but I have never done it. Just wondering if anyone has done it. Dont like any of the aftermarket wheels for the cali right now. So I was thinking about painting my stock ones...........any input?

well... you can paint pretty much anything. the key is proper preperation. make sure its clean. primer, wet sand, allowing enough time between coats, etc.

i had a pair of wheels on my old honda that were spray painted black. they looked fine... and we didnt even do any prep work.

If I do attempt I will have to take lots of pics and do a write up...........that way I know what the rims use to look like after I mess them up........lol

some of the fellas on DT are having good luck with plastidip. :D

paint is better, but I think plastidip is removable.........if you end up not liking it.

I painted my dog bowls black using duplicolor's wheel paint. it was really easy. It is all in the prep, and not rushing things. Make sure you invest in their prep spray as well.

I just scuffed up the chrome finish with some sand paper. put on a coat of primer. Shot on a few coats of the wheel paint followed by a few coats of clear for alittle shine and added protection.

I think it took me a couple of hours tops.

well got to looking at my rims today and seems one of them has a nice chip in it............looks like it may be time to start buying my supplies........

What color are you going to paint em?

gonna go with black..........try to match the trim on the car...........wont do it till I get totally moved into my house though.............may be a month or so............
