Default Rev Limiter

Hi everyone

What good is Paddle shifter with rev limiter. Call Bob Moore Dodge and they said I would need a aftermarket computer to disconnect the rev limiter. Any suggestion or help.

I’m not sure how far over 6500 your looking to go, because an aftermarket tuner will only let you go to I think 6600rpm + or -100rpm or so. If you could disable it completely, you’re going to be buying a new engine or paying for an engine rebuild.

Fortunately if you are trying to raise your shift points that’s a different story. Just remember you cannot out shift a well tuned automatic with a stick or a paddle shifter if you can it isn't tuned right in the first place or needs to be worked on.

A paddle shifter is only a toy for the consumer who thinks he can do better job than an automatic. If you’re planning to do a lot of autocross or road course stuff that changes the game considerably.

What’s the bottom line for you?

I don't think you would need an aftermarket computer. A Diablo tuner will do the trick. You can adjust the Rev limiter and shift points. However be very careful with this. As DaBeast said, you will end up buying a new motor or rebuild. I played with it a bit with my Charger and It ended up being too much of a pain so I went back to the canned tune adjustments that came with the Diablo. Was having an issue where the shift points were higher than the rev limiter so the car would hit the limiter and not shift. 6600 is as high as you can set the limiter too.
