If your vehicle was like mine and basically like a spaceship; navigation, six CD changer, SAT radio, the works... BUT no Aux input!
Please note: this information was obtained from http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/...d.php?t=137177
Im not in any way shape or form taking credit for this, but that thread didn't have any pictures and was kind of vague in some places, so ill try and clear any confusion up. This was done on an 06 Charger R/T... However im sure any vehicle with SAT radio should be able to do this.
The way this works is your installing an AUX jack in line with the SAT radio output wires. So you'll have sat radio on, but it will play your aux input. Then the very second you unplug the aux cable, sat radio comes on as normal. Very cool!
From Radio Shack get this - Part #274-246 1/8"Phone Jack Panel Mount, less than 3 bucks. On the back of the bag for this part youll see the jack pin number diagram.
You'll be tapping into the 10 pin connector, Green/Yellow wire, Green/Orange wire, and solid green wire. Cut the green/yellow and green/orange. The solid green can just have insulation peeled away.
Wiring: (This section is for the wires left hanging FROM THE CONNECTOR)
Radio Connector Green/Yellow wire -> Jack Pin 5
Radio ConnectorGreen/Orange -> Jack Pin 2
Radio Connector Solid Green wire -> Jack Pin 1 -> just tap/splice in
(These wires are the ones left hanging that go to the speakers)
Wire Green/Yellow -> Jack Pin 4
Wire Green/Orange -> Jack Pin 3
You can see here the 10 pin connector with the green wire in tact, and green/yellow and green/orange wire cut.
My soldering skills.. this is tricky because the jack pin is very small.
As I said before, with aux cable connected the sat radio will be cut off, but the car will think its playing the sat radio.
No I didn't tape it to the side of the center column. I just cant find a place to put it right now. I wrapped it in electrical tape to protect the connections obviously.
